Baker Pisses Magic Johnson Off

Former Omaha radio talk-show host Chris Baker, now with news-talk KTLK-FM in Minneapolis, made comments on his show last week that have struck a nerve with former NBA great Magic Johnson.

During his 7-11 a.m. show last Wednesday, Baker and co-host Landgon Perry accused Johnsonof faking AIDS.

After Johnson condemned the statements, the station said it regretted “some off hand remarks” by Baker and Perry, according to an Associated Press report.

Dudzik Let Go From KMTV-3

KMTV-3 – Omaha's CBS affiliate – has apparently fired News Director Ken Dudzik. The receptionist at KMTV today (Sept. 19) said, "He no longer works here." KMTV has consistently had poor ratings, and has been No. 3 at 10 p.m. behind KETV-7 and WOWT-6 for several years. The station recently lost one of its co-anchors, Carlo Cecchetto, who left KMTV because of "personal family reasons." We have calls in and hope to have more details by the end of the day.

Severe Replaces Gray on KETV's 'Kaleidoscope'

KETV’s Mike’L Severe has taken over for Ben Gray for the station’s weekly “Kaleidoscope,” a weekly half-hour program that highlights a range of subjects of interest to the community in general and minority communities in particular. Severe did the show solo last week, but will be joined by panelists Lee Terry Sr., a former KETV anchor, and former city council and school board member Shawntal M. Smith.

Bredow Leaves KETV For Creighton

Meteorologist Andrea Bredow’s last day at KETV-7 was on Sept. 5. She has taken a job at Creighton University in the business development office, according to KETV General Manager Sarah Smith.

World-Herald Buys More Newspapers

The Omaha World-Herald reported today that it has gobbled up two more Nebraska daily newspapers, the Grand Island Independent and the York News-Times. The papers were owned by Gatehouse Media Inc. of Fairport,N.Y.

Brew Gets Exclusive AC/DC
