Great times with myself, Sean Brennan and Will Simons. Of course the delectible Lacey Underalls was also present. Not all there, up late the night before studying for finals at UNO, but still fun to have a female voice.I think the best thing that came out of the show on Saturday was that our managing editor Sean Brennan plans to dress up as Teen Wolf for Halloween. Should be tremendously interesting to see Sean in that get up. When he comes by the office, we'll be sure to get some pics and post them on the website.
A great time had by all at NRG's 1290 KKAR this morning. A fantastic show filled with incredible guests and informative talk.
Another fine effort put together by myself, Jim Minge, Will and speacial guest, Lacey Underalls...we chatted with a guy from Cricket about a new service. Unlimited wireless internet for $35.00 a month, not a bad deal. Also gave me a chance to do some more slamming of our friends at Cox Communications. We also spoke with the folks out at Scary Acres about their Halloween festivities.
Had s lot of fun this morning despite the early hour. As you know we are on from 8-9 a.m. for a time while we get through UNO football. Taylor Stein joined us to talk about his adventure into sitcoms called "Going Nowhere". Check out ne episodes on the web every Wednesday, www.theomahabuzz.com.
Angela Smith Joined us from the Strategic Air and Space Msueum in Ashland to talk about their new exibit called "The Big Abventure". Head on out there with the kids, it sounds like a great time.
We had another great time on City Weekend. Conor Oberst (Matt Geiler) joined us. Funny shit man...Geiler had us all on the floor with an almost dead on imatation of Conor. Of course our wonderful producer Lacey Underalls joined in for a few choice words and we had the guys from the loom event going on at Heartland of America park join us for a time.
Another decent show this Saturday, even though Sean didn't show because he wanted to be at the Husker game early and Will called in from touring with his band. Jim and I handled things and Mike Boyle dropped in to talk about his run-in with abortion activists at an Obama rally.
If you haven't heard the story, here it is http://www.ketv.com/news/17453436/detail.html In addition, Mike shared his thoughts on the mayors race and the presidential election.
Another great show, City Weekend on 1290 KKAR was full of great guests, Orinda Fink, local Saddle Creek artist, and Tony Lange from the MAMF.
Hey, were running out of people to prank for City Weekend. Last week was Atchley Ford, but the well is running dry.
If anyone has any bright ideas, let us know...friends, family, business...as long as they give consent...we don't have a problem. E-mail Jim or I (jimminge@omahacityweekly.com, chris@omahacityweekly.com) if you have a good idea. Don't post them here as we would need a phone number of course.
See you Saturday, 2-3 on 1290 KKAR...
O.K., here is the deal, City Weekend will be moving to 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays starting the first week in October and will be there for about five weeks.
F'in Maverick Football has blasted us out of our normal 2-3 time slot, so we really don't have much of a choice. But, at least we won't be up against the Huskers, and may gain some new listeners. And, Sean won't have a stroke over missing College football on T.V. that afternoon.
Last week we were going to have Mark Rypien (Super Bowl MVP) on the show to talk about the upcoming NFL season. 10 minutes after the show ended, my cell phone rang...Mark Rypien.
Apparently he called into the show and our awesome producer Latavia forgot that I told her a guy named Mark might be calling in...young as she is, she didn't have a clue who Mark Rypien was, and dispite his protest, she INSISTED he had the wrong number... so much for Rypien.
