Jun 05, 2008 — In his book, “Running Alone,” discussed here last week, Burns criticizes presidents from JFK to Bush II for not working closely with their parties in Congress and for not governing in a consensus mode. What he’s really saying is that we don’t have the British parliamentary system, where the leader of the state is automatically the leader of the majority party in parliament and hence very likely to get things done in terms of proposals and legislation.

Jun 18, 2008 — I was as fond of Rosenblatt Stadium as anyone and loathe to see it go. It seemed to me one of the most attractive venues for a sports event I’ve ever seen.
