‘Madder’ fundraiser
May 16, 2008 — On April 6 of this year the Omaha music scene lost one of its biggest supporters when Joe “Madder” Kenny passed away unexpectedly. Madder was a huge supporter of the local rock scene and especially liked some of the grittier rock and punk bands that played at places like Shea Rileys and O’Leaver’s.
Summer festivals fast approaching
May 21, 2008 — Last week the Mid-American Music Festival happening in Benson on September 3-7 was featured in the City Weekly.
Then and now
May 30, 2008 — This past week I headed over to the Waiting Room to catch early ‘90s cult band Swervedriver play their first show of their reunion tour. While watching the band play a flawless set it really took me back to that time in music both locally and internationally.
Get Naked
Jun 05, 2008 — Long-running local rock band Naked Plywood will be releasing their new CD, “It’s About Time,” this Saturday at the Barley Street Tavern. The band has been playing around town since the early ‘80s but consider 1997 the starting point of their current sound.
